Becoming a Master Persuader–Persuasion Reading List
Could I know more about persuasion – not just tactics but the science behind it? Several of months ago I listened to an interview on Tim Ferriss’ podcast. I enjoy this podcast for a couple of reasons. First, Tim Ferriss is an excellent interviewer. He asks insightful questions, then even better follow up questions. Second, the guests have very diverse backgrounds, but the theme is the same–to deconstruct human performance.
An episode that really captured my imagination was an interview with Scott Adams. I knew of Scott as a great cartoonist. What intrigued me was his take on persuasion, hypnosis, and human communication. He floated his “moist robot hypothesis” and made a case for why Donald Trump is a master persuader.
As a sales professional, I continually look for ways to improve my persuasive ability. Scott Adams thoughts about persuasion piqued my curiosity and interest.
I began reading Scott Adams’ blog. That’s where I found his persuasion reading list. I decided to raise my game and sharpen my persuasive skills by dedicating the next year or so to working through Scott Adams’ Curriculum. I am working my way through this list. I’ll share my progress and kpey takeaways. I will also share actions I find useful following my completion of each book or section of books. I believe some books will more likely lead to actions than others. I’m tracking my progress on this page.
Join me along this journey. More to come…
